Slip-on Flanges
Slip-on flanges, also known as ‘hubbed flanges’, have a hub with a very low profile. This type of flange is usually connected to a pipe by one or two fillet welds (one outside the flange and one inside the flange), it is however possible to use only a single weld.
Slip on flange is a commonly used flange connection method. It connects two pipes or the connecting parts of pipes and equipment by being slipped over the pipes and fastened with bolts. Flat welding flange has the characteristics of simplicity, reliability and good sealing. It is not butt-welded directly with the pipe or container nozzle. During assembly and installation, the pipe is directly inserted into the flange for welding, or slid into the pipe. Therefore, the bolt holes can be aligned by rotating the flange before welding, making installation and alignment easier. At the same time, it is easy to weld, uses fillet welding for sealing, has low welding requirements and is easy to detect. Flat welding flanges are usually used in non-corrosive, non-critical, medium pressure conditions, most commonly on 20 kg (150 lbs) and 50 kg (300 lbs) grade pipes.
